1,000 Hours Outdoors Challenge - (Jan Update)
Time flies; January is wrapping up already!
Honestly, the weather has been pretty agreeable. Despite this, we've cozied up inside more than expected, engaging in crafts and movie nights. Our tally is 15 out of the intended 31 outdoor hours.
January's Highlight: An unforgettable night of sledding with our friends from the Harambee Homeschool Cooperative. Parents kindled a fire on the hill while we brought along hot chocolate and hand warmers. The children had a blast sledding under the moon (and street) light, completely unplugged from technology.
For February, we're sticking to our one-hour-a-day aim. Kicking off the month, we're excited to tap some maple trees. Here are a few more winter fun ideas:
Winter Hiking: Whether it's a nature trail or a neighborhood stroll, soak in the winter scenery.
Stargazing: With longer nights, it's the perfect time to observe the stars. Telescope in hand, let's discover the cosmos.
Birdwatching: Take note of the winter birds' activities and compare them with their springtime behaviors.
Nature Photography: An excellent opportunity for our young scientists to record observations and draw comparisons.
Wildlife Tracking: Fresh snow offers the perfect canvas to discover which creatures share our surroundings.
